Series will use vertical-format, short-form style; The Worst Villainess debuts on September 30
Naver announced on September 16 that several of its top-rated webtoons will be adapted into short live-action series in collaboration with content studio STUDIO X+U.
The two companies produced eight short-from series in total, four of which are based on popular Naver WEBTOON titles, such as The Worst Villainess, Sperman, Vending Machine Ghost, and Sisters at War.
The series use a vertical-format and short-form style, emphasizing fast-paced, immersive storytelling that aligns with the global trend of quick, mobile-friendly video content.
The first release, The Worst Villainess, will premiere on September 30 through Naver TV and the company's streaming platform Chzzzc. On Chzzzc, viewers will also be able to participate in real-time watch-along sessions.
Naver stated that the collaboration is designed to combine its WEBTOON IP with STUDIO X+U's expertise in short-form video, aiming to deliver content optimized for changing consumption habits.
While there are no official English versions of Vending Machine Ghost and Sperman, fans can read The Worst Villainess and Sisters at War in English on WEBTOON.
