WEBTOON Announces Winners of 1st-Ever Webcomic Legends Contest

Grand Prize of US$150,000 went to creator Akikakie for action series Covenant once given

WEBTOON Entertainment revealed on Thursday the winners of its inaugural Webcomic Legends Contest, a global competition aimed at spotlighting the next generation of webcomic creators. The contest drew nearly 4,000 submissions from around the world and generated over 5.3 million views on WEBTOON's CANVAS platform.

The Grand Prize of US$150,000 went to creator Akikakie for the action series Covenant once given. In addition to the top award, the series also won in the “Most Epic” (Action/Fantasy) category and will join the WEBTOON Originals lineup. Fans can read Covenant once given on WEBTOON.

Other genre winners include:

• Most Feels (Romance/Drama): UNVEILING YOU by Vago_XD

• Most Gripping (Horror/Thriller/Mystery/Supernatural): My Dear Watson by heiMO.

• Most Laughs (Comedy/Slice of Life): I want to kiss 100 monster girls! by Lucía Cid

The Webcomic Legends Contest continues WEBTOON's tradition of launching careers through its CANVAS competitions. Past contests introduced readers to some of the platform's most successful creators and series, including Love Advice from the Great Duke of Hell by unfins, Hooky by Míriam Bonastre Tur, and The Kiss Bet by Ingrid Ochoa.

The company awarded over US$1 million in total cash prizes through the contest, offering creators both financial support and the opportunity to transition to WEBTOON Originals.
